Duty of Care is now top priority.

In the world of car leasing and contract hire a recent survey of fleet operators has revealed that duty of car has now become the top agenda. Understandably cost management has been the number one priority but 3/4 of the fleets that took part in the study said that risk management / duty of care is now their top issue. It was revealed that  over a third of these fleets had still to put a risk management system in place but they were addressing the issue as quickly as possible. The use of mobile phones in vehicles is set to be reviewed by more fleets. The respondents cited that 69% of incidents were mobile related and that they are now considering a complate ban.

Brake the road safety charity are now pushing for what they consider a "ridiculous situation" to be ammended. Brake are pushing the politicians to completley ban the use of mobile phones in the car as it is the conversation that is the distraction and not how the call is made. They claim a 20% increase in braking time, a 30% increase in braking distance and a 11% reduction in memory performance are significant statistics to invoke a complete ban.
