The National Saftey Commission has issued a warning to drivers who have been using high energy to combat driving fatigue. Drivers who have been relying in the drinks to help them through the high mileage days that have needed to be completed during the credit crunch. The Commission commented that caffine intoxication carries the same warnings as those associated with drug and alcohol use. Energy drinks are good for a quick fix but they are not to be used as a regular long term solution to keep you awake during long journeys.
General tips to avoid tiredness:
Regular stops every 2 hours.
Share driving whenever possible.
If you do feel tired STOP, find somewhere safe to stop and take a rest.
Carry out regular driver risk assesments.
