Organisers have announced some of the manufacturers that will be attending this year's EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show.
Car firms that will be showcasing their latest electric and alternatively fuelled cars include Renault, Nissan, Peugeot and Citroen.
The event is seen by many to be the perfect opportunity for fleet managers to get a hands-on look at the alternatives to petrol and diesel cars. If they decide that the low carbon vehicles can be incorporated into their fleets then they may want to consider hiring them out.
Car leasing could be an effective way for businesses to take advantage of the benefits of electric vehicles (EV), such as low emissions and fuel costs, while avoiding one of the main drawbacks – the expensive upfront cost of purchasing them.
The British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association is working with industry magazine Fleet World to host the event at Silverstone on April 18th.
Ross Durkin, managing editor at the publication, said the show is now really starting to take shape.
"We're delighted that four of the motor manufacturers who have really been at the forefront of EV development will be at the event in order to help fleet managers really understand the potential for incorporating electric vehicles onto their fleet," he stated.
Mr Durkin believes the motoring industry is warming to the idea of EVs.
"I think EVs will make commercial sense to a growing number of organisations… maybe ten per cent of new cars into fleet in five years' time," he explained.
Those thinking about car leasing may get a chance to see the new Renault Fluence at the EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show.
The luxury saloon is only currently available in London, but the five-seat car could be the future of urban transportation as it is capable of travelling for 115 miles on a single charge of its batteries.
