The Budget 2008

FUEL DUTY, with the increase in oil prices the government did a u-turn on the proposed increase in duty, but it will be interesting to see if there will be a reduction in the current fuel duty charge.

CAPITAL ALLOWANCES, there are changes expected to the current fixed allowance rate of 25% to a C02 based system. This will not affect SME's but this will have an effect on leasing companies as well. This change is likely affect the rebate on car leasing rentals that companies currently recieve, in essence this will make expensive high C02 output cars very unattractive from a point of company taxation.

AMAR RATES, The government is looking at changes to the Approved Mileage Allowances Rates for some time. Be aware this will have massive impact on people who are funding their vehicles personally.

GREEN ISSUES, The king review on low carbon vehicles is due soon, and you can be sure that the government will adopt some of proffessor King's recomondations. Proffessor King believes in a carrot and stick approach so please be aware of what this could mean.
